Master and student—that relationship is so unique. You have to look at it this way: What is the master and what is the student? I’ll give you an example because no matter what I say it’s difficult to understand. Imagine a lit candle. That candle represents the master; the master is already enlightened. You are looking for the light. The master shows you: there is the light. Who are you? Why are you here? You are here to recognize you are also the candle! Do you understand? You recognize—the master just lets you see—you are also the light, but you are not ready. You say, “I want the light.” The master says, “Stay close to me, please.” But you say, “No, it’s dangerous.
